There is only One Giver for all beings; may I never forget Him.
The Life of Baba Sang Ji
Baba Sang Ji’s original name was Bhai Jodh. He hailed from the village of Sang Dhesian, in the Jalandhar district of Punjab. From a young age, he was deeply devoted to the path of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. His unwavering commitment to selfless service (seva) and his disciplined life impressed Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the Fifth Guru.
It was Guru Arjan Dev Ji who blessed him with the name Sang, which means association or congregation, as he was a shining example of how a Sikh should live in the company of the holy Sangat (congregation). Guru Arjan Dev Ji personally sent Baba Sang Ji back to his native region to preach the Sikh way of life.
Blessed, blessed is the Guru’s Court,
where there is love for the Lord’s Name.
Baba Sang Ji’s legacy is rooted in humility, seva (selfless service), and devotion to the Divine. He taught that true peace is found in Naam Simran (meditation on God’s Name) and in living with compassion and integrity.
The Gurdwara stands as a sanctuary of spiritual wisdom, guiding devotees to embrace equality, community, and selfless giving. Inspired by Gurbani, Baba Sang Ji’s
life reminds us that service to humanity is the highest worship, and humility is the path to Waheguru.
Those who serve selflessly and humbly are blessed to realize the Divine.
